Gratitude in Solitude Day 20

It’s Monday and back at work. It still is hard to keep the days of the week straight but I don’t think I’ll ever have an issue remembering Saturday and Sunday unless I wake up thinking that Monday is Sunday or something like that.

So today I am grateful for ink. Pens specifically. I have quite collection of them, all different kinds. Fountain pens are my real downfall. From the dip to the disposable and everywhere in between, I love them all. I love the feel of them moving across the page, leaving a trail of pigment usually in the letters I meant to write. I also find it forces me to slow down a bit and think just a tad slower and keeps me from thinking too far ahead.

Yes, I can have very nice handwriting or very meh borderline indecipherable. It all depends on the day and how fast I need to get my thoughts down. Usually, my journal is the messiest because I want to get my thoughts down and 99.99% of the time I never re-read those pages unless its a story idea. There is no need to, its a cathartic brain dump for me, talking through what is going through my head and clearing out the junk that lingers.

The picture attached is of my hand yesterday after a journaling session followed by working through this week’s lesson in The Artist’s Way (my early Sunday morning ritual). If any writers out there or other creatives are feeling a little blocked, give the book a try.
