Day 3 Working from Home

I’m lucky I can work remotely. It makes snow days and days when you aren’t feeling the best much easier. Now with the Corona pandemic and the world in quarantine or social distancing, I still get to do my job from the comfort of my dining room table.

But that’s the problem. I’m home. I know myself well and alone is not always the best thing for me. So far so good and I think because I am aware of this that I’ve kept myself in check, but with the uncertainty of the social distancing and not sure what is media hype and what is real, it doesn’t help to add to one’s anxiety.

My CEO send us an infographic about working from home and the funny thing is I am already doing some of it already. Normally when I work from home I rock the sweatpants and slippers and when I am in the office, it is office casual. I made the conscious decision to make sure I dressed for work regardless of where I am working from (ok since yesterday) and it really does help set the scene for doing a day’s worth of work.

Sure there is a load of laundry that needs to be done, but that has to wait. The home distractions need to wait until I am off the clock too. These are all really good lessons for me for my dream of being a full-time author.

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and yes, I do have my famous Corned Beef cooking away in the crockpot. The smell hasn’t started to torture me… yet and I can’t wait to have some tonight. A special request was made of me to cook cabbage. Normally, I wouldn’t do it but I found a recipe that looks interesting and it is a traditional side dish. We’ll see how that goes. Never know, I might (big might) become a fan of it. I might even make some colcannon tonight too, but that will be a decision I’ll make later. It would be a good way to get rid of some of the kale I have leftover though.

I’ve been working on some behind the scenes stuff and healing, getting myself to where I want to be so I can launch my novella with some success. I can’t wait to get to work on revamping “Fire and Ice”. It’s going to be a bit because I was the second one in the series (yes, its a series now) written before I release it. That shouldn’t take too long since about 1/3 done already and know what is going to happen to Bobbie and her teammates.
