Gratitude in Solitude – Day 15-18

I know, it’s been few days since my last post, but I’m here to catch up! It’s been a few crazy days and adjusting to new work schedules that has thrown me off my game.

Day 15 – My morning ride to work. Grated, I have to drive up Rt 130 and that is never fun. But with the hour I drive in and the increase of those working from home or on lockdown, it has decreased the traffic and cut my morning drive from about 20-25 min to about 15. But that’s not what I am grateful for.

When I leave for work, usually about 6:15 am, the sun is up but the sky is beautiful! Streaks of pinks and oranges along with the closest thing I have to a skyline. I’d get a photo of it, but I’m usually driving when it is at it’s most spectacular levels. It’s a nice quiet moment that I get to enjoy.

Day 16 – Notebooks. I love notebooks, all different kinds. The best is when they are fresh and new, only filled with potential. I can’t wait to open it up and start filling it up. Who knows what will go into them and how long it will take to fill up, or will it be with me for years? I have notebooks that are my calender/organizer, shopping and meal planning lists, random notes, a notebook just about my house, a log of the books I’ve read and movies I’ve seen, a journal, recipies, and many, many more.

What’s better than a brand new notebook? One that is finished, filled to the brim with thoughts and doodles, completed (and not completed) to do lists. Sometimes I keep them and sometimes I don’t. It all depends. But then the best of the best part, I get to start (or even buy) a new one!

Day 17 – PodCasts. While I have been making face shields, I have been listening to podcasts for pretty much the first time. So far, I’ve listened to this year’s episodes of The Creative Penn, The 6 Figure Author, and now working though the 2020 episodes of The Sell More Books Show. They do play some great music at work, but I figured I could use my time a bit more productivity and find motivation to work towards my personal goals.

I’ve made some decisions of what my next steps will be in writing and publishing to obtain my “Castle” level goals. (I’ll go into what my Castle goals are in another post.) The only part I don’t like is I can’t take notes, but I do have the show notes to reflect back with. I’ll probably do that once a week now to be able to go back to the parts that really ring true for me.

At the same time, I have been thinking for a while about doing my own podcast but I need to think about what the focus will be. Does anyone have some brilliant ideas? I’d like it to be about writing and publishing, but at the same time, what unique perspective can I bring to the podcast world?

Day 18 – Fuzzy slippers. It’s a chilly spring day here. Kind of gloomy, but not rainy, anymore. I’ve run my weekly errands and already changed into my sweats so I can do laundry, but I usually don’t wear socks unless I have to. Not for any other reason other than the fact that I don’t like to wear shoes in the house. I’m more comfortable that way and always have been.

My current, fuzzy slippers.

When I was little, I loved wearing slippers so I could “skate” around on the hardwood floors. I wanted to learn how to skate and loved watching figure skating when it was on TV.

I got my most recent slippers in my winter FitFabFun box. I don’t normally have slip on style slippers but these are pretty nice. Granted, I don’t like wearing them when walking down the stairs. It reminds me too much of the time I broke my foot.

Now, while wearing my fuzzy slippers, my feet are cozy and warm. Perfect for this gloomy spring day and wait for it to get warmer.

So now I’m all caught up and there is still plenty of this month left to find what I am grateful for. In the comments, let me know what you are grateful for. It’s tough during this odd time of insecurity it is good to reflect on the little things in our lives that we are grateful for. Let’s share these things that bring us joy, together.
